Arthritis
< back

The two most common forms of arthritis are Osteoarthritis and Rheumathoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis affects the hips, knees , and shoulders. It may develop from stress on the joints, which causes a degeneration of the articular cartilage in the joints. Rheumatoid arthritis is a progressive chronic debilitating disease, which affects the total organism. In both cases, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs are generally prescribed. This treatment can alleviate the symptoms in patients , but not without undesirable and unpleasant side effects for many of them.

A well balanced diet can be of great advantage in both cases of arthritis. It is recommended the intake of fruits, vegetables, and fatty fish (tuna, herring, mackerel). As a source of proteins, it is beneficial to consume eggs and low-fat cheese. It is better to avoid red meats and those dairy food products with a high lactic acid content, as well as salty foods (cold cuts), acidic fruits (strawberrys, blackberrys), citric fruits, fried foods, tea, coffee, and sweet or alcoholic drinks. Light physical exercise (swimming, muscular extension) can be favorable to avoid arthritic and muscular pain.

In addition to all these previously cited hints, arthritis patients will get excellent beneficial effects when taking:
